From Bad to Worse

Promt: The Alligator River Story

1) Gregory. I respect the most due to the face that he did nothing wrong. When he’s woman did the deed and then told him what was to stop her from doing something great. Moreover, if the would have accepted her after what she did that would have been like telling her it is ok. In addition, if it OK now then it is ok later. And with it accepting her it is like a go ahead to do it again later.

2) Slug. He took Abigail in after knowing the ordeal that she when through. Then he went to Gregory to confront him on the matter. Slug stood up for what little honor Abigail had but in doing so, he brutally beat up Gregory. Therefore, I believe that Slug was trying to do some good but he came about it the wrong way by harming the man that did nothing wrong.

3) Ivan. He is a middle ground person that does not want to get involved in the personal affairs of other. Nevertheless, Ivan should have try to due some thing about his “friends” situation. He could have trying to Sinbad about the deal and see if he could have made another agreement. On the other hand, Ivan could have loaned Abigail the money to get across the river so she could have seen her “lover”. Instead, Ivan stood there and did nothing to help a “friend” in need.

4) Sinbad. I dislike Sinbad because he was only going to help here for his own gain. If he was a true man, he could have worked out some other agreement with Abigail. She could work on his boat one to two hour a day until she paid off the trip across the river. Alternatively, he could have let her make a payment plan. Or Sinbad could have be a real business man and said “NO” and let her ride only if she had the money right then and there.

5) Abigail. I cannot stand her because she agreed to Sinbad terms when she should have stayed away or tried to work out another deal. Then she turns to another person told her tell. On top of that, she finds joy in the harming of Gregory who she says she loves.

Rights: "Not Wrongs"

promt:Human Rights v. Majority Rule

What are human rights how does one define right for a human? We define right base on what we have gone through and what the ones we love have gone through. We see human rights as what is good for us and our group but we also see majority right as what is good for the group.

In the world today when one says human rights they mean human rights through the eyes of the majority. So what happens when the majority and the minority clash? Well in other countries there is mass murder and violence toward the minority. While in the US we try to force the people out by being rude. For example if a waiter or waitress finds out that the people that he or she is gay the service may be poor because they will look to other tables first. We also get social decimations where the minority breaks or try to break away form the large group. We see this all through out history with churches and even the civil wars was base on this. Because the south said black had little to no human rights while the north said slave had some and should be treated as such. Now in this example the north had more free men than the south and right were held by free men. This clash brought about good change at the cost of war. Now we all have inalienable human rights but who sets this rights: me you or the majority. In most cases it is the majority. Why is that because if we all ways look at the few or the one then our great progress would stop. So the question comes up where do we as humans draw the line between human right and majority right. I believe the line is draw at death.

So in the end it really does not matter. What matters is that we can get along as a people but we can not because we like to feel better that those around us so we give them less “human” rights that ourselves.

Propt:Hijack!

If an Air Bus A380 was hijacked by a terrorist group who threaten to blow up the plane and all its passengers if I do not release some certain convicted criminals and it was up to me to decide how to handle it. For me it would be the hardest decision of my life to choose between the few hundred people now and the thousands of people in the near future. I guest the best was to find out is to look at all the sides. An Air Bus A380 can hold up to about eight hundred people plus ten to twenty crew and the men and/or women this terrorist group wanted released are war criminals who kill thousands of people each. These criminals if released could and probity would kill thousands again. Then if I was to give in to the demands of the terrorist I would show that my country was weak and would break under pressure. Which would mean that the current terrorist group would continue to ask for more for these people lives and even if they let the people on the plane live what would stop them or some over terrorist group from doing this again? So on this side the lose of the plane is small.
While on the other hand each life is priceless so I would fight to save all the lives I could because each one has a family that needs love them. Many times after a major event like the death of eight hundred people, the families would be driven into a state of extreme depression which may lead to the death of many family members.
So the choice that I would have to make would be weight as a cost (the lives of the people on the plane) verse the risk (the demands of the terrorist group). If the people lives come out to be more then I fight harder to save there lives. Now in the end I do not really know how I would handle or even if I could handle it that decision when that time came.

the path

Promp:Right or Wrong?

To know the path of right and wrong one must we must know how we define right and wrong. Morality for must people is defined by our past events, family and friends. Now when I am facing any decision I have many choices I can make. I can go the easy way verse the hard way. The “right” way verse the “wrong” way. To do so I look at the cost to benefit ratio. If I feel it cost to benefit ratio for lying is ninety percent better than the cost to benefit ratio of honesty I may be deceitful. Like when a women ask “How do I look.” while I am working on some project that in my opinion is important. I may think the dress, hair style, or the make-up is not working for her today so to get her to leave me to my work I will say “You look nice”. Now if I had said she did look nice she in all probability would have stood there ask me question after question when I really did not have the time to talk. Sometimes depending on the people standing around me may swing my decision one way or another. Like if my family is around, I may be more truthful with my answers. While on the other hand if I am trying to impress some one like a new boss I may tell a little lie with the truth so that he or she will not look down on me in a negative way. So every decision is based on whether or not I will get more out of lying or by telling the truth.
Now many people that are poor will turn to stealing in order to survive. In doing so they will try to justify why they are doing wrong so they can feel that they are going right.
There is no true way of determining whether something is the right way or the wrong way. Some people use their religion while other like government uses the saying “The needs of the many out weight the needs of the few… or the one.” I prefer to use both to determine my right and wrong.

Biases

Promp: Perception

Gorgias and Socrates were right in that we as humans can not have a truly objective perception because of what makes us living your emotions. For example if a person approaches me and ask if I can give them a hand or loan them five dollars for lunch my kind hearted nature is to say yes. Now there are reasons for which I would say “no” like how that person asks. If he or she came on strong, overbearing, or rude is one of the first things I look for when people ask me for help. Another reason for say “no” is how that person holds them self. For example if they look like they would use the money for some I do not agree with I will not hand over the money. Like the other month a man approached me as I came out of Taco Bell and ask if I could spare some money. I would have said yes but the smell of alcohol on his breath was strong and he told hold he needed it for his one year old child and wife needing food. Not only was there that but after he told his tell I offer to take him to the nearest store and buy him the food he needed due to the fact that I had a dollar and some change no me. At hearing this he started to walk way saying no he just need some cash. I also know that I am biases toward females because female look hotter than men. So if a woman about my age and look nice come up and ask for help I am more willing to stop what I am doing and help her. This does not mean that if you come up looking for help you can not get it for me because I believe that everyone needs help and in help a strange I brighten up his day. Then in turn he may brighten up other people’s day. There for making the world a better place is also one of my biggest biases perceptions.

the first

promp:Blog Introduction

Hi my name is Daniel Seth Carswell. I am a good old boy that flows through life. One of my favorite TV captains said, "I am a ship with out a rudder. If the wind blows north I go north". I am a night time and weekend dispatcher for wildfires, and I am also the responsible for issuing of burn permits. I’m a man that can’t stand writing because I’m no good at it and I feel that there is not much worth writing about because when I write I sound dreadful due to the fact
that I have a low writing skill.
